What does it take to be a Brand Ambassador?
In this article we asked our People Manager, Kat, what it takes to be a Brand Ambassador (BA); the essential skills, and the benefits of joining the promotional industry.
What is a Brand Ambassador?
Before we dive into it, what is a Brand Ambassador? A BA is a person engaged by an organisation to represent their product or brand, to help increase brand awareness and sales. The most effective BAs are social butterflies who can easily initiate engaging conversations with strangers and find ways to make them interested in a brand’s product.
If you haven’t heard the term Brand Ambassador or BA, you may have heard of: Brand Communicator, Brand Representative, Brand Influencer or Promotional Staff.
Being a BA is not just about picking up casual jobs, while you are working, you are also learning valuable skills in customer relations, communication, time management and organisation which you will take with you forever!
What skills are essential?
So, what does it take to be a Brand Ambassador? Firstly, it starts within yourself. You will probably have a friendly, charismatic personality and a willingness to go above and beyond. Excellent communication skills, being professional and punctual are also important! Also, you will be able to learn quickly and adapt well to new brands and products. Finally, it’s important that you can work as an individual but also as a part of a team.
Many BAs also have qualifications like a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) and Food Handling Certification. These credentials are easy to obtain and can open a lot more doors to opportunities within the industry.
